HOW TO GET TO AMORGOS

From Athens

Ferry boats and Highspeed catamaran services run daily from Piraeus. The two ports on Amorgos where the ferries arrive are Katapola and Aegiali (changes on even and odd days).

The journey from port of Piraeus to one of these ports will last 6-9 hours and costs around 30 euros (economy class, one way) and 43 euros (business class, recommended!) – look for a comfortable place!

From other Cyclades islands

Connections between Amorgos and Naxos are very good with the small ferry, Express Scopelitis, running each day and connecting the Little Cyclades and Amorgos, as well as the big Blue Star ferries running to and from Santorini, Astypalea and Rhodes.

Both ports have a boat travel agency and there you can buy tickets and get information regarding the boat schedules.

By airplane from Athens

There is a daily flight from Athens airport Eleftherios Venizelos to Naxos airport which is the closest airport to Amorgos (Olympic Airlines departing at 09:00, arrival at 09:45, please doublecheck). The airport of Naxos is about 1km outside the port of Naxos (Chora) and you may get a taxi just outside the airport.

The ferry trip from Naxos to Amorgos – one or two daily connections – will last 3 to 31/2 hours.

Another nearby airport is that of Santorini island. During the summer there are regular ferry routes every week to Amorgos. The trip from Santorini to Amorgos takes about 1-3 hours.

Other nearby islands with airports and regural ferry routes are the islands of Mykonos and Paros.
